"Live" PbPs
#1

More of an experimental idea here, it's quite possible that it makes no sense at all... But what do you think about doing "real" Live-PbPs in a chat? The person doing the PbP would type the text into the chat in real-time, which would create a lot more suspense than if their descriptions of the game appear in chunks, like it works in the forum.

Obviously we would have to find a way to "record" it so that people who missed it can still read the PbP afterwards. We'd also have to make sure that there aren't too many interuptions to the PbPer in the chat. It might be a bit more stressful for the PbPers who decide to do this method, but I would think PbPs could also get shorter this way, as the same level of entertainment can be reached with fewer scenes described.
We would have to figure the logistics and all that out later, but what do you think about the general idea? Of course this shouldn't replace the PbP-formats right now, I see it as more of an exciting addition Smile

Cheers, David

It would be sweet to try to get a radio broadcast type of PbP, where they post a live game on some type of live streaming and record it for later. My bro did that type of thing with his buddies and it was pretty sweet.

I think a live chat PBP would actually be the coolest thing for big games, then for those who missed it, just post a summary in a thread in live games.

Ummm isn't this essentially the old style of PBPs but in a chat?

Basically yes, but it would be way more dramatic. A new line being posted every few seconds, no need to hit refresh, you can basically feel the momentum and tempo of a sequence, if the Simmer times it right...

I like it. In fact, I'll do it for a Vegas game. Perhaps the first one depending on the day.

In S2, A1Sports(Eric Scheib) did a radio broadcast as a PBP. Interesting fact: he got paid 150k lol. Anyway, he did a great job of it, and that was probably the reason I stayed with the league.

He's saying rig the games better so they're more exciting.

Yeah Scheib's PBP as sick. First memory I have of the league. Would be really hard imo to make just a bunch of text sound exciting, but he really did well. Would be sick if someone did that here.

Meant the PBPer, sorry, I sometimes mix those two up because in another league the Simmer does the PBP, if there is one.
