Igor's brief statement on his team's controversy.

Some people have asked Igor Volkov of the Whalers and Chiefs if the recent situation affecting Minnesota has changed his opinion on the team.

Igor signed with Minnesota for the SHL as it was one of the few teams that reached out to him and was willing to draft him, being a late prospect. However, with the recent controversy, Igor publicly announced that he is having second thoughts about signing. "I am ashamed of this team."

When Igor signed, Daco (playing as Casimir) wasn't in the management position at all. After Daco was accepted to the position, he offered to extend Igor's contract to two additional seasons for $2 million per season. Igor accepted this offer, unaware of what was brewing.

With the situation now publicly exposed, the reputation of the team has taken a serious hit. Informed of the controversy later than most of his teammates, Igor's initial reaction was complete shock and disbelief. "What the hell. How did this happen? How did I not know of this?" were his first words regarding the incident. Igor has shamed Daco for his involvement of the situation, as well as his escalation the situation. "I do not think this should have happened at all", Igor stated. Igor is in favor of firing Daco and removing him from his position immediately.

Minnesota is looking for new GMs. Igor had offered to step up to the position, and then the team's reputation had been ruined.

With his public image now tarnished slightly, Igor is considering outright nullifying his contract with Minnesota and becoming a free agent, or signing with another team (looking at Edmonton in particular). He could also stay with Minnesota, which might be less and less likely as time goes on. His final stance remains uncertain at this time.

"If I stay with Minnesota, I'm guaranteed to remain in the SHL, although I will have a loss of reputation", Igor commented. "I'll get to still be with most of my teammates, but I'll have to deal with being involved in this even though I had no knowledge that this was happening." As for transferring to another team, Igor commented that "...such a move would isolate me from the Chiefs, but I am aware that they will not be able to resign me for a season. Is this risk worth it? I do not know at this time." Igor's stance on becoming a free agent was only a few words. "It would be best, but I don't know if it is possible."

As for probabilities, Igor gave about a 35% chance of remaining with Minnesota, a 45% chance of switching SHL teams, and a 20% chance of becoming a free agent.

Igor commented that "Minnesota is horrible right now. If we get a favorable ruling, I'll consider staying with them more, maybe bump up my odds to 40% or 50% or even 60% depending on how favorable the ruling is. If it's not favorable or doesn't happen soon, I'll be transferring teams. 100%. Minnesota in its current state is horrible. I cannot say this enough. I am ashamed of this team."

Igor is currently talking to some of his other teammates on both teams about what he should do. Most have advised for staying with Minnesota, arguing that the risk of leaving was too great. But with the situation with them, it seems that Igor is more eager to get out of there and transfer to a different team willing to take him in.

Igor is willing to talk with GMs of various teams. His final decision should be more obvious in the coming days.

Sounds like a case of an Innocent Bystander!
Reminds me of how the Penguins Tampered Hartford and caused them to move to Carolina.
Chiefs might have to fold and move to Quebec to reborn the Nordiques!

Igor responded. "It is true that I am more of an innocent bystander. As far as my contract goes, this should not be affected should I choose to stay."

Igor is still waiting for more information from the Chiefs regarding their appeal before making his final decision.

Give it time, it sucks right now, but there is beauty in grinding through the hard years. Makes the victory that much sweeter.
